The PD paddle holster combines both the pancake and wraparound methods of construction to give a low-profile body with a reinforced holster mouth. The rear wall of the holster contains a steel insert which prevents the holstered weapon from flopping about -- normally a problem with paddle holsters. The paddle is made of 3mm ABS, heat-molded to conform to the contours of the body for comfort. It also incorporates a simple cutout protrusion that keeps the holster in place when the weapon is drawn. Textured rubber Translite is bonded to the paddle face to minimize lateral movement. As with most Horseshoe holsters, the rear protective tab option is available with the PD (S in model designation denotes no protective tab). For maximum efficiency, the PD must be worn with a belt. However, a word of caution. The PD is task specific i.e. it is designed for on/off convenience. As such, it loses more than a slight degree of concealment, speed and efficiency in the trade-off for ease of use. There are, for instance, no wide-spaced slots to draw the holstered weapon in close to the body or to inhibit lateral movement.
